On Saturday, June 4, 2022, at approximately 10:59 a.m., the Rialto Police Department Communications Center received several 9-1-1 calls regarding shots fired at Jerry Eaves Park. Officers from the Rialto Police Department arrived and located an adult male victim suffering from a single gunshot wound to his leg. Officers immediately rendered medical aid to the victim, who was then transported to a local trauma center.
At the time of the shooting there were several car enthusiasts gathered at the park for their annual picnic. Investigators have learned that the shooting began when the suspect was involved in an argument with one of the car enthusiasts. After the argument, the suspect entered his dark color compact vehicle and left the parking lot. As the suspect pulled onto Ayala Drive, he fired several rounds toward the crowd of car enthusiasts, striking the victim. The victim is in stable condition.
