Rialto, Calif. – On Thursday, April 24, 2025, at approximately 9:30 a.m., the Rialto Police Department, Rialto Fire Department, and California Highway Patrol, in conjunction with Carter High School, will stage a simulated drunk driving collision as part of the “Every 15 Minutes” educational program. This anti-DUI event is designed to highlight the harsh realities and consequences of underage drinking and driving. The presentation will feature a re-enactment of a drunk driving crash involving Carter High School students.
Carter High School will take part in this two-day educational initiative, which aims to expose students to every aspect of a DUI-related collision, including the traumatic aftermath such incidents can cause. During the mock crash, there will be a significant presence of emergency vehicles in the area. We want to reassure the public that this is a simulation and not an actual emergency.
On the second day of the program, Friday, April 25, 2025, a school assembly/mock funeral will be held for the students involved in the previous day’s event. The assembly, which begins at 9:30 a.m., will emphasize how one person’s choice to consume alcohol can have far-reaching and devastating effects on others. This powerful and emotionally charged event is intended to demonstrate the potentially life-altering consequences of alcohol use, even when it may seem harmless.
The program is organized by the Rialto Police Department, with support from the California Highway Patrol and numerous community partners and affiliates. Funding for this impactful event has been provided through a grant from the California Highway Patrol.
Please note that this is a closed event and will involve temporary road closures. Drivers should expect delays in the vicinity of Carter High School on April 24, 2025.
