Lieutenant James Mills began his law enforcement career in 2002. During this time, he has served the community and Department in various assignments, including Patrol, Street Crime Attack Team, Investigations, and Professional Standards Division (Internal Affairs). He has held collateral assignments as a SWAT – Crisis Negotiations Team Member, Field Training Officer (FTO), K9 Coordinator, and FTO Coordinator.

Lieutenant Mills oversees the Department’s Specialized Investigations bureaus, including Detectives, Narcotics, Street Crimes Attack Team, and Traffic.

Lieutenant Mills possesses a Bachelor of Science in Workforce Education and Development, which he earned at Southern Illinois University.
