On Saturday, March 26, 2022, at approximately 8:02 p.m. officers responded to 300 S. Riverside Avenue for an unknown injury traffic collision involving a bicyclist and a motor vehicle. Officers arrived on scene at approximately 8:05 p.m. and observed an adult male, Luther Wills, a 47-year-old resident of Rialto, with life-threatening injuries. Initially, the involved vehicle, a blue BMW, fled the location. The driver was later identified as Mohamad Ahmad, an 18-year-old resident of Bloomington. Minutes after the collision, Ahmad contacted the Rialto Police Communications Center to advise he had been involved in the collision.
Preliminary investigation indicates Wills rode his bicycle southbound on Riverside Avenue with no lighting equipment. The driver of the vehicle, Ahmad, was driving south on Riverside Avenue. Ahmad did not observe the bicyclist in the roadway and a collision occurred. The investigation of the collision is still ongoing.
