Captain Andrew Karol’s law enforcement career began in 1997 as a police officer with the City of Rialto.

Captain Karol has held a variety of assignments with the Rialto Police Department to include; Patrol, Field Training Officer (FTO), FTO Coordinator, Gang and Narcotics Investigator, Professional Standards, SWAT Commander, SWAT sniper team leader, and Operations Division Commander. Captain Karol is a graduate of the Sheriff Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute, Class #217, and he is also a graduate of PERF’s Senior Management Institute for Police (SMIP), Session 63.

Captain Karol holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from California State University Northridge, a Bachelor’s Degree from the California State University Long Beach, as well as a POST management certificate. Captain Karol is a member of the California Police Chiefs Association, the Police Executive Research Forum, and the California Peace Officers’ Association.

Captain Karol served in the United States Marine Corps from 1988 to 1992 as a Special Reaction Team (SRT) member, assigned to the Military Police Division and he is a Desert Storm Veteran.

He is currently assigned as the commander to the department’s Support Services Division which includes budget, administration, communications, records, personnel & training, property & evidence, logistics, community outreach, technical support, and animal control.
